Michael Myers Unmasked in Halloween Ends BTS Image

Michael Myers is unmasked in a Halloween Ends behind-the-scenes photo featuring The Shape actor James Jude Courtney and Andi Matichak’s stunt double.

Spoilers for Halloween Ends below!

Hollywood’s iconic slasher, Michael Myers, has recently been unmasked in a Halloween Ends behind-the-scenes image. The long-running horror franchise began with John Carpenter’s classic, Halloween (1978). For 12 out of the 13 films in the Halloween franchise, Myers returned to wreak havoc on the town of Haddonfield, Illinois. In the latest entry to the film series, Halloween Ends, Myers faces off against the eponymous Final Girl, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) one last time.

Set four years after the events of Halloween Kills, which saw Myers survive an ambush by a Haddonfield mob and murder Karen Nelson (Judy Greer), Strode attempts to find some closure by detailing her decades-long trauma in a memoir. After she aids Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell) with local bullies, the gang violently retaliates and inadvertently sends him on a fateful meeting with Myers. With the killer sensing the darkness boiling within Corey, the two form a tentative partnership. However, after Corey steals Michael’s mask, the killer tracks the young man down and violently gets it back.

Lydia Hand, Andi Matichak’s (Allyson Nelson) stunt double, recently took to social media to share a behind-the-scene image of Myers unmasked. The photo depicts a touching moment between James Jude Courtney (The Shape/Myers) in full costume and makeup embracing Matichak. Check out the image above.

Will Michael Myers Return?

Although in the image, Courtney stands with a sense of exuberance as he hugs his co-star, this cannot be said for his Halloween Ends character who was killed at the end of the film. After being stabbed and bled out by Strode and Allyson, Myers is delivered via a procession through Haddonfield to a local salvage yard where his body is pulverized inside an industrial shredder. There is no way Myers can return within the current continuity, but as precedence has shown multiple times, the Shape will likely kill again in a new Halloween project.

Following Myers’ death in Halloween II (1981), the killer was resurrected various times throughout the franchises’ history. He made his frightening return to the big screen in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers in 1988; then for the first legacy sequel/reboot in 1998’s Halloween H20: 20 Years Later; again in Rob Zombie’s Halloween duology; and finally in David Gordon Green’s H40 trilogy. Even though Myers is certainly dead at the conclusion of Halloween Ends, chances are high that the Shape will stalk Haddonfield one more time.
