Andrade El Idolo Tells Scathing Sammy Guevara Story

Andrade El Idolo might be on his way out of AEW, and he recently told a story that indicates he might have backstage heat with Sammy Guevara.

Andrade El Idolo might have a career vs. mask match on AEW Friday Night Rampage, but he still found time in his schedule to tell a story about why he dislikes Sammy Guevara. The ex-NXT Champion has been making headlines lately due to his activity on Twitter. It seems that he’s unhappy with his standing in All Elite Wrestling, but he still took aim at the Jericho Appreciation Society member during a recent interview.

El Idolo and Guevara aren’t actively engaged in a feud, which makes the tale even more interesting, as it doesn’t appear to be building towards a feud immediately. Instead, Charlotte Flair’s husband shot on Guevara pretty much unprompted. The comments were harsh enough that they could eventually lead to a program should El Idolo win his match against 10 on Friday night.

Speaking to Mas Lucha, El Idolo revealed the following story about Guevara: “…I did have one issue with a wrestler. I am going to say his name, it was Sammy Guevara. I had an issue with him because he once came to the locker room and complained that we hit him too hard. It’s wrestling, solve it in the ring. If I hit hard, hit me hard too. I learned that he came in and that he accused me like a little girl. After I learned about it, I spoke to him and asked if he had an issue with me, but he said he did not and that’s all there was to it.” (h/t and a thank you to for the transcription)

El Idolo Vs. Guevara Could Make A Ton Of Sense

Interestingly, a rivalry between these two men would make all the sense in the world. Both have been lost in the shuffle lately, without much to do, whether it be on Dynamite or Rampage. El Idolo and Guevara exchanged barbs on Twitter after the interview went live, which likely caught the attention of Tony Khan and those backstage in AEW.

There’s a real hope that this is a work of some kind because the last thing All Elite Wrestling needs right now is more backstage issues. Recently, Guevara was in the news for getting into it with Eddie Kingston behind the scenes. El Idolo has reportedly been uneasy about his lack of air time with the company. The air is just beginning to clear after CM Punk’s post-All Out blowup, but AEW fans will still have their ears to the ground, listening for any disturbance. El Idolo hopping into an interview and burying Guevara, if it isn’t part of a storyline, is another fire that Tony Khan and his crew need to put out in the coming days and weeks.
